It was definitely challenging capturing three dimensional light objects on a 2D screen (our shooter John had a FUN time with this one!), but I have to say it was very cool to see this tech in person! Biggest question: Where do you want to see this used?
~1980, I saw a holographic exhibit in London that had a 3D holographic objects appearing behind the holographic plate and a 3D holographic magnifying glass, the same type that she is using. appearing midair in front of the holographic plate. But, the most amazing part was that the holographic image of the magnifying glass actually magnified the objects, exactly like a real lens does.
My mind is kinda blown, finally been able to project images into thin air! Incredible
Oh come on the one thing I wanted to see was a clear close up view of her sticking something trough the hologram
I’ve had this experience in my consciousness.
uh can i buy it?
Whenever a new phone, TV or a piece of technology is out, the first thing they portray to the public is a chameleon.
Technology sounds a bit vague sounds a bit like a crypto investment.
Just imagine when movies are made with holograms.
They've been had this (but far more advanced than what's being shown) for quite a long time now. It's just now that they feel like giving us a preview. They are so beyond advanced that they have figured out a way to add mp3 / "voice" [ie. frequencies] within the hologram itself.
Get ready for a false alien invasion, you guys. Seriously. Do your own research.
I hope someday regular consumers can get their hands on something like this. Using this could make an amazing D&D table, if they can be placed horizontally, not just vertically like a TV.
If I had the money, I'd want this to memorialize my furkids.
Why didn't the image distort when you put your hand through it .
Where is my duel disk?????
Anaglyphics, eat your heart out.
So is this just nintendo 3ds technology, or what? The fact that the projection is not blocked in any way when the hand is, according to her, "going through it", makes me think that it's not a projection at all. So not a hologram.
Imagine a camera that, instead of creating images, captures the moment itself so you can do whatever you want with it later on.
It's pretty cool, but if this is all the innovation they could muster in comparison to the 2pac hologram concert from 10 years ago… Makes me wonder what they've really been doing all this time.
I know they are trying to market this as a replacement for VR and AR but wouldn't this be a great way to do a VR screen?
The future is near! Can’t wait to see this technology be used widespread in 2050
Cant wait to see 2pac in a new hollowgram system.
so cool
Even if the hologram is only good from certain angles, that's still okay with me. What I personally want is a hologram style workspace where I can move things around and it reacts. Who cares if it doesn't look right at all from outside my window? I'm in an enclosed room and being able to just move things around sounds downright fun.
…of course, no matter how on spot it gets it'll probably be way more efficient just to use a computer. It's hard to beat a system where all you have to do to move around the entire length of your workspace is rotate your wrist 5 degrees.
1) Holograms ARE real.
2) This isn't a hologram.
Nahhh I don’t like it
Thanks for not actually showing or telling about the principal or method they use. Just a waste of time
time to make a gem irl
It’s a great achievement!
The question is, can it come out in open area?
Or is it stuck inside a black hole?
If its inside the black hole like in this demo, its not any better than a mirage toy with two concave mirrors.
And if this is real holography, then i doubt it will be working as same in a noisy urban environment similar to any prototype.
Nevertheless, if they did it, I'd love to see a demo.
WHY IS IT IN THIS BOX?!
Y'all really need to look into what they doing to people in Australia. It's crimes against humanity.
Can they recreate black colour?
Another fake 3D hologram demonstration. Nothing to see here
wouldn't be great to have zoos all over the world showing detailed animals from one another?
I don't want to see you moving around the object and describing me what you see, I want operator's camera to move around the object and watch it by myself…
3:10 WIth or without glasses it's exactly the same.. Err, why are you wearing them then? 😀
Jokes aside.. this looks incredible..
2:23 – The chameleon flinches when she puts her hand through it.
Seems neat but not the most convincing demo – how do we know this isn't just created with CGI? It says it's from CNET who are reputable, but it would be more believable if they brought in a bunch of different people off the street and let them all videotape it with their own smartphones, holding the camera up close and spontaneously moving it all around the hologram at different angles. Even that can be faked with CGI, but it would be more convincing. And the more different people and cameras they show demos from, the more work it would be to fake.
So can we finally get rid of our TV's as we've been using them for the last 100 Years or so.. Its time we view entertainment through Hologram Tech.
