I'm convinced that Valve is a company of mad modders that try to innovate currently existing hardware or stimulate a branch of industry than an actual videogame company. Which is good but probably terrible for them (taking a page from Gabe's HL2 interview or book on how it's made i forget) because even though they made it and hear good praises they will truly never know if the product they ship out is good enough even for them, and it kills them inside.
As soon as they release the community will have new themes etc running on them withing hours. Fixes for even minor issues within 24.
I will buy it. Nothing more to say
The steam deck remind of thebsegam gamegear lol but it looks really good
You’re incomplete
you dont have to pay to play online games that you already paid for so its already more complete than the switch
I wish I could afford a steam Deck. I want the pro model
Lucky youtubers who can get sick consoles like steam deck but some of us who are kids when we ask our parents they say no
Steam is doing now with games what should have been done decades ago. Games should be cross-platform. Windows did a massive disservice to the gaming community with DirectX.
just the hardware for this price is interesting completely on its own
It seems Valve made a right move.
It applied the java's strategy: "buy once, play everywhere". Now you don't have to wonder whether to buy PC version or console version of the game you like.
Valve finally created an ecosystem that filled the gap between PC and console.
400 bucks for a tiny linux based gaming pc which can eventually run games? I'll pass…
Weird question but what is that game he's talking over at 10:07 ? Tales of?
You guys are the best.
I would buy one, but Valve isn't shipping them to Australia. It took until late 2021 to get the Valve Index officially too.
Steam deck is a pile of Bull crap………….. Period. End. Dot
BTW… Steam as a company is just as bad
Am I trippin or do you look like a salamander
Like your like our sponsor ….. Steamdeck
Crappy… steamdeck…dont judge it for what you want it to be, judge it for what it is. Everything else, judge it for what we want it to be. These guys are jokes.
Wait… Does that mean no mods for games?? Is a Windows version even possible?
I don't have either handheld, but I'd rather get a switch because the joycons come off. True one could just get an external controller that is compatible for Steam Deck probably, but they are more bulky. The quality of Steam Deck isn't really better than Switch imo, but the game catalogs each have are different.
"relic of a different era" when people (used to?) actually get together irl? It seems like it's divisive in exactly the way Nintendo stated. Nintendo is meant to be a party system and we still always play Nintendo at parties. The steam deck is a very solo experience and tries to make up for its lack of social qualities by adding irc which is pretty lame.
It's mad fun playing Mario party or the ever green Mario kart at parties. The question is how the steam deck could ever compete with that. The answer is that it isn't trying to. It wants its users to be isolated for data collection reasons.
The quality control of Nintendo is also just unparalleled. I have every system since the snes including the gba ds 3ds wii wii u and they all still work flawlessly. Not only do games with crazy physics engines like botw play flawlessly but they work just as well on TV as they do on the go. The way the system is designed allows for it to be given to a kid without a case and not even worry of they drop it.
Hi, i'm thinking to buy the Steam Deck Valve portable console / pc and use the joycons with it, connect the console to the television and play some wii / switch games through an emulator but I was wondering if is possible to play games like the old Wii Sports or Mario Ace Tennis for switch using joycons motion controls in this way…Basically i want to use the wii / switch pc emulator on the steam deck to play games which requires swinging around the joycons or nunchuck like the first Wii on a tv connected to the steam deck , would it be possible? Thank you!
fuck that clickbait nonsense thanks
my biggest hope with the Steamdeck is more developers publishing Linux versions of Games
Id love to play fallout 3 on that thing
The Steam Deck is the equivalent of a game that supports the modding community.
I want to know how to replace the sticks once drift starts happening? If someone can tell me this, I'm buying it.
Nobody gives a f*** about steam deck I think so you don't need to make so many videos about it. But I could be wrong
I pre-ordered the Steam Deck. But I cancelled it. My Switch is all the portable gaming console I need.
Great video but for the thumbnail I suggest not putting red in it because i thought i had watched this already but turns out I hadn't but didn't know because I couldn't tell if the "You watched this much into the video" red bar at the bottom was there.
What excites me about this is that any work Valve puts into game compatibility on Steam Deck will translate into game compatibility on Linux in general.
Most game companies start off strong with a console then market it in a way as that they just want money and what steam is doing here I hope they keep it up because if they do the steam deck could be the next big thing.
Please do a video showing how to install windows and how to revert it back to factory conditions. Also show us the benchmark while running windows.
And not least important, keep the great work with astonishing quality!
I sooo want this!!! I'm in Brazil though 🙁 and tax would be like 100% here will have to wait until I go back to the UK I reckon but maybe they will have worked out some of the kinks by then
The problem everyone always ignores is that most people choose to play on the platform that they have a built up friends list on. If we truly reach a point where all platforms can cross play or at least have an option to then I think that will make it easier for other players to get into the market which will help promote competition which will be good for the consumer/gamer.
I was never married to the compatibility thing… I mean like, sure my dev friend believes "it's Linux and so of course it'll all work". I'm not surprised it's not 100%, not 90%…. like heck…. I don't care as long as I can use Remote Play.
I'd be happy w/ 50% local compatibility + Remote for the rest.
the only thing i would have like to see is some easy swapping of parts like the idea of the google ara phone where you could swap the camera by sliding it out of the frame and replace it with a storage one
irony that now nintendo's store is littered with non quality games
knock knock : "open up it's gabe Newell"
"Incomplete but i`m not complaining" Spends most of the video complaining….
I would like to say “I’m in”, but Valve has notoriously been known to “get bored” and bail on their hardware, despite me, despite Linus, despite you….
I still have (and use) Valve’e controller, and Steam Link….I stopped at VR for fear of intentional obsoleting, I’m horrified to use either, for fear I can’t replace them, or repair them should something go wrong.
I’m rooting for Valve, so don’t get me wrong.
I would like to see an “accord of intent” so to speak, something from Valve’s end solidifying their plans for the device.
When Nintendo drops a brick, they support it….because they are Nintendo, and they don’t want to shake the confidence of their consumers, so that brick is THE Nintendo gaming device for the next 5-7 years.
Valve will simply END support and peace out…..
Again…I WANT this to work, but Linus likely got his for free (no disrespect), and THAT would obviously effect MY review of it, as getting it for free alleviates the primary concern of this post….having skin in the game, when Gabe jumps ship to build a Steam Car, or Steamcopter.
A 5-7 year support pledge would go a long way, toward addressing this concern…..for ME, at least.
apple is shit.
Seems like this is the new norm for anything consumers purchase unfinished. From triple A games to operating systems. Ah dont worry we have your money now we have updates coming for the full experience at a later date
it's not quite apple level mate don't insult valve like that apples been downgrading there products lol
